Jamiles Lartey named NABJ 2016 Emerging Journalist of the Year

The National Association of Black Journalists chose GloJo alum Jamiles Lartey as the 2016 Emerging Journalist of the Year, an award that recognizes a black print, broadcast, digital or photojournalist with less than five years of experience in the industry. Lartey currently works for The Guardian, where he’s part of the team of reporters behind “The Counted: people killed by police in the U.S.,” a project working to count the number of people killed by police and other law enforcement agencies in the United States throughout 2015 and 2016.
