Nicole Tung receives Honorable Mention for Photojournalism

Photojournalist and NYU almuna Nicole Tung has received Honorable Mention – 2017 ANJA Niedringhaus Courage in Photojournalism Award by the International Women’s Media Foundation for her coverage of those most affected by conflict. Since graduating from NYU’s College of Arts and Sciences in 2009 with her degree in journalism and history, Tung has worked with many international publications and NGOs to cover civil injustices in the Middle East, North Africa and Asia. Among many other topics, she’s covered the Libyan and Syrian conflicts, the Hong Kong protests, the European refugee crisis and has documented the lives of Native American war veterans in the U.S. Tung is currently working on a project about the rising violence against women in Turkey with help from the IWMF Grant for Women’s Stories.
